Kate began her career in hospitality, ultimately owning and operating a café in Sydney, a business she loved. She still has a passion for cooking and entertaining. After spending time at home with two young children, Kate was ready for a new challenge. In 2011, Kate and Brett took ownership of a small hobby business, and Blue Dot Travel was born. After many years of hard work, Kate and Brett have established a thriving boutique business, taking pride in providing exceptional service and high-quality small-group travel experiences.

Olivia Curtis
What began as a one-year job change evolved into a 20-year career in travel that took Olivia around the world and shaped the course of her life. Captivated by the people she met—both within the travel industry and along the way—Olivia discovered a deep and lasting passion for travel. Her wealth of experience, paired with her enthusiasm made her a natural fit for Blue Dot Travel, where she now leads and manages tours with genuine care for our travellers.
Brod Brennan
Brod has managed and led tours for Blue Dot Travel since 2014. Having travelled extensively over the years with partner Jo, Brod’s passion is seeking out and testing interesting new destinations for Blue Dot Travel. Brod has enjoyed developing rewarding relationships with Blue Dot’s in-country operators. Over the years, he has led tours to over 120 countries, many of which he has visited multiple times.
Joanne Coughlan
With a background in IT, Jo joined Blue Dot Travel in 2014 and took up the challenge of building Blue Dot Travel’s brand and audience. After many years on the leadership team, Jo is now enjoying uncovering new Blue Dot destinations alongside partner Brod Brennan. Jo particularly enjoys remote and rugged destinations, with a focus on walking, landscapes, and wildlife. Madagascar remains one of her favourites, being the first trip she hosted for Blue Dot Travel.
Simon Hart
After a long and successful career with the Australian Navy, Simon has stayed busy in his “retirement”, becoming a specialist in Camino walks and hosting tours for Blue Dot Travel. As one of our most senior and experienced tour leaders, he has taken groups to remote and fascinating corners of the world, from The Stans of Central Asia and Mongolia to Kamchatka, Russia.
